Welcome along for another installment of “An Early Review Of” - the series where we break down the decklists and data behind Marvel SNAP’s newest card, Makkari, to get a better idea of how it’s truly performing in the Meta!
Today, we’ll be analyzing Makkari, a new Series 5 card introduced during the Celestial’s Finest Season that is available in this week’s Spotlight Cache. The important question is – is Makkari worth buying? Let’s crunch the numbers.
We’ll be ranking Makkari based on the following set of parameters:
- We’ll be looking at Makkari’s performance at the Infinite Rank and above, including a special mention of the Top 10% of the Infinite Rank to get a solid idea of how it performs.
- We’ll be considering Makkari’s overall win percentage in these ranks, but also its average cubes and popularity.
- Finally, we will also take a quick look at how the archetype the card best fits performs in the current meta.
Our Tier List rankings are based on the Average Cubes and Popularity of a card when compared to all other cards in Marvel SNAP.
THE RAW DATA
Makkari has a +0.14 Average Cube rate at Top 50% Infinite Rank which is indeed interesting. It sneaks up to an impressive +0.18 inside of the Top 10%.
We see a similar story when studying Makkari’s winrate, managing roughly 53% across both categories too. These numbers will evolve since at the time of publishing the article the card has been live for only 24 hours and the time range for popularity stats is from the Latest OTA Patch on June 13 (excluding Hot/Feature Location days).
For now, Makkari is sitting with similar statistics to Gilgamesh, which leaves us feeling like it’s a solid card that will have an impact on the meta.
Remember that these stats will evolve over time, and this is “An Early Review Of”, so make sure you revisit the card stats and our Card Tier List once the dust settles to see where Makkari lands in terms of power level and popularity.
MAKKARI’S BEST DECKS (SO FAR)
With thousands of games already played at Top 50% Infinite Rank with the Untapped.gg Companion since the Makkari’s release, we’ve got a selection of decks to choose from if you’re looking to find a home for your freshly acquired copy of Makkari. Let’s take a look at some of the best-performing options:
Makkari Deck
Marvel SNAP Deck including Makkari
Makkari Deck ft. Silver Surfer
Marvel SNAP Deck including Makkari
The standout amongst the games played at the top of the Infinite Rank is the deck combining Makkari with Discard synergies and Silver Surfer. The deck often plays cards like Proxima Midnight, Strong Guy and Daken which have great synergy with Discard mechanics and the already classic support for every 3-cost card, Silver Surfer. Don’t worry if you are missing any of the cards listed, you can always find a deck tailored to your collection on our Marvel SNAP decks page.
We also need to take a step back and not only analyze Makkari’s power level but the archetype that plays it the most as well. However, even though Makkari isn’t a build-around card, at the same time, it isn’t strictly confined to only one archetype. Even her inclusion in this Surfer-Discard symbiose can’t be categorized within a specific archetype. That being said, if we see the current Marvel SNAP meta, the Surfer archetype is on the top of Tier B with a 52.4% winrate and with a +0.20 Ave. Cube rate, considering Top 50% Infinite data since the latest OTA Patch on June 13.

Final Thoughts
Is Makkari worth your Keys or Tokens? That’s the big question. As we’ve mentioned at the beginning of this Early Review, the analysis revolves around two dimensions, Makkari’s power level and how strong its archetype is in the current Marvel SNAP meta.
Raw Data says that Makkari has the potential of being powerful since it is free stats, which means it should shift Marvel SNAP’s metagame in the upcoming days Remember that this card was buffed from 3 Power to 4 Power prior to its release. On an archetype level, Surfer has been sitting on Tier B for the past few days, the addition of Makkari should improve its performance.
But what do you think? Is Makkari secretly the truth? Will the upcoming releases bring enough support to Makkari to make Surfer a powerhouse? Let us know your thoughts over at @UntappedSNAP on Twitter/X. Alternatively, come and chat with the wider Marvel SNAP Community on our Discord Server!
