Welcome to a latest Marvel SNAP developer update roundup! In this article we will share some of the most popular questions by the community that Second Dinner answered on the official Discord, including Alliance Rewards, SNAP Points resets, and how the team treats player feedback, among others, etc. Keep reading to find the answers to these questions— and many more— below.

Will Second Dinner be at PAX West this year?

Q: Curious if the team will also be at PAX West 2024
Glenn: Some of us will be wandering the halls

What is The Impact of Player Feedback?

Q: Hey Team! I love seeing the crew of Second Dinner in our Discord, engaging with the community and generally just being fun to chat with, even if we can be a difficult bunch at times. I got to wondering, though, how much of the feedback do y'all review and how does it impact the development of Snap? How is player feedback handled in your department? And what has been your favorite piece of feedback so far?
Glenn: Primarily, it gives us player stories to inform discussions and help us review features and their updates. Often we’ll summarize it via reports, but sometimes we’ll pull specific feedback to share with the team if it’s particularly relevant or communicative.

How do Snap Points get adjusted between seasons?

Q: I was just wondering if the developers have ever shared anything about the process or thinking behind the process of adjusting Snap Points between seasons. I've seen them drop between 150 and over 400 points from season to season and I was just wondering how it works
Glenn: Your SNAP Points reset each season based on your MMR, or true skill. As you play each season, they increase or decrease to reflect your performance during that time. Your MMR can also change, but it’s “stickier” and doesn’t move as easily.

Playrate Heuristics

Q: When the team is examining playrate stats, is it just the raw presence of the card in the metagame at large, or do series 4 and 5 cards have a statistic that tells you what % of the playerbase that owns the card, plays it?
To give an example that relates back to the previous question, Sandman is a fairly common card at the top of the metagame at the moment, and both Supergiant and War Machine answer the card in different ways. However, anecdotal experience and community reception lead me to believe that different amounts of the playerbase opened for each respective card, so is there a way to take this into account?
Glenn: We do weigh data for cards a little differently based on their Series. For example, many players often note how popular Shang-Chi is, but Shang-Chi is also widely available and has a relatively generic function that many decks can choose to play. Compare to something like Carnage (strong and available, but narrow) or Jeff (strong and generic, but harder to acquire) and it’s clear why Shang-Chi would likely stand out in the data. But winrate and cuberate tell a fuller story of his actual performance.

League reward

Q: According to the announcement, 'ALL League participants the Deadpool Emote and one Neon Blue Border. All other League rewards will be awarded based on final standing'. Does it mean, 1st or 2nd place users only get Black Mate borders?
Griffin: Let me clarify: Only 1st and 2nd place players are getting the Matte Black Borders as outlined in the reward tables. ALL PLAYERS, including 1st and 2nd place, are getting the Deadpool Emote and Neon Blue border delivered via inbox.

Why are all borders not available for purchase on all cards?

Q: I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say shut up and take my money. I jest, of course, but I'm really curious if this is a conscious design point (UI reasons maybe, or reserving certain unique borders for events and such) that I'm not aware of? Because from my perspective it feels like a really easy win-win. Are there plans to expand the border selections or rotate what borders are available so that we can hope to get a matching deck?
Stephen: Matte Black, Matte Red, and the distressed Deadpool/wolverine borders are exclusive for events/bundles/etc. The other borders can be found in Custom Card. The next update will have an expanded cosmetic shop to showcase borders better too.

Are Alliance rewards changing week to week?

Q: It was previously stated alliance rewards would change week to week (team-answers). This week's rewards are the same as last week's. Are there still plans for them to change periodically? KentErik: We intend to change up the rewards slightly each week but unfortunately ran into some issues with updating them for this week. Will hopefully update them next week!
