Welcome to the Untapped.gg Marvel SNAP Meta Report (Ranked) for the week of October 11, 2024. The Meta Report is a weekly article series where we review the best decks and strategies in the top ranks of Marvel SNAP.

Marvel SNAP Tier List

We're two weeks into the We Are Venom Season and players were just about to settle into their solved meta until yesterday's Marvel SNAP OTA Balance Update - October 10, 2024 threw a wrench into a number of top archetypes. While the Hela Archetype has been hit once again, Clog Archetype took the brunt of nerfs, with White Widow and Viper both losing power and utility. Similarly, while not in Tier A, Scream decks took a hit with the change to how unrevealed cards are affected by Affliction. Currently, the Tier List shows Tier A dominated by one card at Rank 70 and above: Agent Venom. The two top decks run the latest Season Pass card and utilize similar game plans. It's important to note as well, the decks hit by the OTA have fallen in standing, but this may be to a drop in popularity while players experiment with different decks post-OTA. Currently, the Agent Venom Archetype is putting out a +0.53 average cube rate and 59.7% winrate. With a 5.4% popularity rate, Agent Venom decks seem to be increasing in play rate, but you're still more likely to run into the War Machine Archetype (6.2%) and Misery Archetype (9.4%) on ladder.

TIER A DECKS

Diving a bit deeper into the data, we can see the best Agent Venom decks are focusing on tempo-focused cards that have high scaling potential. Three of the most commonly played cards, Agent Venom, Iron Man and Kitty Pryde, are present in 80% or more of Agent Venom decks. The most popular Agent Venom deck sports a 61.9% winrate and +0.57 average cube rate, higher than the archetype average at Rank 70 and above.

We find the Bounce Archetype holding down the second place spot in Tier A with slightly lower metrics. Four of its most commonly played cards, including Beast, Falcon and The Hood, are present in nearly 95% or more of Bounce decks. The most popular Bounce deck sports a 58.9% winrate and +0.62 average cube rate, clocking it higher than the archetype as a whole.

Down in Tier B, we find the Darkhawk Archetype inching its way to the top at Rank 70 and above, with the Scream Archetype, Hela Archetype and Tribunal Archetype close behind. Their winrates and average cubes are similar, but Darkhawk is putting up big numbers with lower popularity.

TIER B DECKS

Darkhawk is making its move for Tier A, with numbers just barely falling short. The top Darkhawk decks are also running Agent Venom, similar to the decks in Tier A. Post-OTA, Scream and Hela decks represent a large chunk of the meta with a 4.6% and 3.6% play rate respectively, but Hela isn't the powerhouse it once was, as detailed in our Marvel SNAP Meta Tyrant: Is Hela too Strong? article. We'll be keeping an eye on Darkhawk, as we expect it to move into Tier A very soon.
To have an edge in the Marvel SNAP meta, you must understand each and every tool both at your and your opponent's disposal. By studying the Card Tier List and checking the most popular cards each week, you'll have a better grasp on what to expect in any given match.

The top of the Card Tier List is littered with tempo cards, most of which are used in the top Tier A Decks. Tier B, however, is littered with tech, including Shang-Chi, Killmonger and Cosmo. Shang is present in 27.2% of decks, more than double the usage of the highest performing card on the Tier List. Killmonger (17.0%) and Cosmo (15.2%) are also showing very high play rates. If your deck is particularly susceptible to these, adjust your game plan.
This doesn’t mean that affected decks become unplayable, your opponent still needs to draw these cards and find the right time to play them to generate impact. Just keep in mind the possibility of them coming down on a pivotal turn and you could elevate your performance by a significant margin.
Next week Scorn drops alongside Sebastian Shaw and Jean Grey. Be prepared to face players experimenting, as we see a spike in popularity on spotlight cache days.
