Welcome to the Untapped.gg Marvel SNAP Meta Report (Ranked) for the week of October 18, 2024. The Meta Report is a weekly article series where we review the best decks and strategies in the top ranks of Marvel SNAP.

Marvel SNAP Tier List

The Hellcow nerf has severely weakened the Hela Archetype, and with it, the need for its counters. Clog Archetype has also had its share of blows in both the Widow's Kiss rework and the slight Viper hit. With these two falling in power and popularity, low-cost, high-power output decks are shining. Yesterday's Marvel SNAP Patch Notes — October 15, 2024 didn't include any card balance either, solidifying these decks' standing in Tier A.
Currently, the Tier List shows Tier A in a three-way tie at Rank 70 and above, with each deck putting up similar numbers. Two of the decks are utilizing Agent Venom, which is starting to display the makings of a Meta Tyrant. The Bounce Archetype pulls away from the pack ever so slightly with a +0.41 average cube rate and 55.6% winrate. A new type of Sera Archetype list is doing the rounds, demonstrating a positive average cube rate, but negative winrate, while the Agent Venom Archetype has been maintaining its footing in the meta since our reporting last week in our Marvel SNAP Meta Report (Ranked) — October 11, 2024 article. Currently, the Bounce archetype has a 2.9% popularity rate, so you're still more likely to run into the Darkhawk Archetype (8.3%), Arishem Archetype (5.2%) and Destroy Archetype on ladder.

TIER A DECKS

Diving a bit deeper into the data, we can see the best Bounce decks are utilizing both Black Swan's new Activate ability and Beast for two opportunities to have turns of 0-Cost cards. Four of the most commonly played cards are present in 93% or more of Bounce decks, including Beast, Falcon and The Hood. The most popular Bounce deck sports a 56.5% winrate and +0.49 average cube rate, higher than the archetype average at Rank 70 and above.

We find the Sera Archetype holding down the second place spot in Tier A, but the deck composition isn't what you think. This new version forgoes Turn 1 and Turn 2 in an attempt to cheat out Sera and Onslaught in order to dump your hand on Turn 6 for explosive power from Hit-Monkey, Sage and Strong Guy. Ten of its most commonly played cards, including Silver Surfer, Magik and Wave, are present in nearly 92% or more of Sera decks. The most popular Sera deck sports a 47.7% winrate and +0.46 average cube rate, clocking it higher than the archetype as a whole.

Down in Tier B, we find the Scream Archetype at the top thanks to its 57.9% winrate at Rank 70 and above, with the Tribunal Archetype, War Machine Archetype and Toxic Surfer Archetype close behind. The other decks' winrates and average cubes are similar, but Scream is the Tier B deck to beat.

TIER B DECKS

Scream is making its move for Tier A, with numbers just barely falling short. Even post-OTA, after the changes to how unrevealed cards interact with Kingpin and Scream, Scream decks are performing well. We'll be keeping an eye on Scream, as we expect it to move into Tier A very soon.
To have an edge in the Marvel SNAP meta, you must understand each and every tool both at your and your opponent's disposal. By studying the Card Tier List and checking the most popular cards each week, you'll have a better grasp on what to expect in any given match.

The top of the Card Tier List is littered with Bounce cards, most of which are used in the top Tier A Decks. We are in a Cosmo meta, though, with the tech card sitting at a 17.5% play rate. The next tech card, Shang-Chi, isn't seen until the top of Tier B, but has a whopping 24.9% play rate. Killmonger is also displaying a high play rate at 16.2%. It is a tech-filled meta and you should consider adjust your game plan or even deck choice if you're particularly susceptible to these cards.
This doesn’t mean that affected decks become unplayable, your opponent still needs to draw these cards and find the right time to play them to generate impact. Just keep in mind the possibility of them coming down on a pivotal turn and you could elevate your performance by a significant margin.
Next week Toxin drops alongside Elsa Bloodstone and Zabu. Be prepared to face players experimenting, as we see a spike in popularity on spotlight cache days.
