MISERY – She Loves Company

Misery is the latest symbiote to join Marvel SNAP as part of the We Are Venom Season. It is a 4-Cost, 7-Power card with the ability On Reveal: Repeat the On Reveal abilities of your other cards here, then destroy them. Its Destroy effect resembles other cards you might be familiar with such as Carnage, Venom and Arnim Zola.
The first new Destroy Archetype card since Lady Deathstrike, Misery is offering a way to both juice up your Knull and double your On Reveal abilities, a unique combo benefitting a wide array of decks. Misery biggest downside is its Cost - as a 4-Cost, it may be too heavy for certain archetypes to justify, like the Bounce Archetype or Miracle Archetype. A no-brainer seems to be the Clog Archetype, as Doctor Octopus has felt much more like a flex slot since its nerf than an auto-include. Doubling down on Debrii, Viper and Cannonball, while simultaneously freeing up space on your side of the location could be an invaluable tool.
Misery will find a few homes, but Turn 4 is a pivotal point in Marvel SNAP. Powerful, game plan-defining cards like War Machine, Hellcow and Wong are coming down on this turn and Misery requires rigorous planning to make the most use of its ability. The skill required to play Misery optimally may be what holds the card back from being great.

DECKS TO TRY MISERY IN

NAMORA – Atlantis' Favorite Daughter

Namora is currently in Tier C of our Card Tier List with a +0.31 average cube rate and 52.5% winrate while being played in 0.7% of decks at Rank 70 and above. Namora is most commonly played in heavy On Reveal-centric decks alongside Black Panther, Wong and Odin.

DECKS TO TRY NAMORA IN

Namora shines in a Cosmo-free meta, as the card is usually accompanied by other On Reveals with very telegraphed play lines and strategies. Unfortunately, it's also why Namora is currently sitting in Tier C on our Meta Tier List at Rank 70 and above. Archetypes using Cosmo and Alioth to counter the Hela Archetype and Bounce are not only on the rise, but sitting in Tier A .

WAR MACHINE – Boom, You Lookin' for This?

The final card in this week’s Spotlight Cache is War Machine, currently sitting in Tier B with a +0.60 average cube rate and 57.2% winrate at Rank 70 and above. War Machine is most commonly played in Lockdown lists, where it synergies well with Storm, Legion and Infinaut.

DECKS TO TRY WAR MACHINE IN

War Marchine is a must-have for anyone who enjoys Lockdown-style decks. War Machine's recent change to Ongoing has brought Lockdown back into the meta for the first time since Professor X's nerf, sitting at Tier B on our Meta Tier List. The archetype insulates itself against whiffing the Legion scam with cards like Madame Web, Blink and Doctor Doom to let you safely get back into your Ebony Maw and Flooded lanes.

Spotlight Variants

Each week, there's a chance you open exclusive Spotlight Cache Variants for the featured cards. These variants only appear once you own all three featured cards, so you’ll need plenty of Spotlight Keys if you want one. Spotlight Cache exclusive variants will not be available in-game again until one full year has passed following their release.

The featured artist for the We Are Venom Season is Pandart Studio, so we should expect all Spotlight Variants for new cards, such as Misery, to get Pandart Studio depictions. Namora receives a portrayal by Arthur Suydam and War Machine receives a new variant from Salvador Larroca.

Final Thoughts

This week’s Spotlight Caches offer some new tools for established archetype as well as a meta staple. All of the cards this week are Series 5, so now is as good a week as any to open if you're missing two or more. With War Machine currently in a top meta archetype, this is a great time to try out a powerful deck you've been missing out on.
Remember to consider the upcoming Spotlight Caches. Next week we’ll see Scorn, Sebastian Shaw and Jean Grey - Sebastian Shaw has been featured multiple times in Spotlight Caches and Jean Grey is a Series 4, so a skip week for many players.
