The long-awaited We Are Venom Season is officially coming to Marvel SNAP. If you're planning to pick up the new cards, you'll need our Spotlight Cache Schedule to budget your resources. Read below for the official Spotlight Cache Guide for October, including new cards, Spotlight variants and cards worth getting if you don’t have a complete collection.
Spotlight Cache information has been confirmed by Marvel SNAP in their October We Are Venom Developer Update. If you want to see datamined Cards, Spotlight Caches and other unconfirmed data for November and December, check our Datamined Schedule.
Here are the Spotlight Caches for Marvel SNAP’s October We Are Venom season.
SCREAM (Series 5)
When an enemy card moves, steal 2 Power from it. (once per turn)
MAN-THING (Series 4)
Ongoing: 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards here have -2 Power.
MOBIUS M. MOBIUS (Series 4)
Ongoing: Your Costs can't be increased. Your opponent's Costs can't be reduced.
The first Spotlight Cache week of the We Are Venom Season offers a few building blocks for players looking to add options to their collection. Scream's ability comes just in time for the rise in Move-centric game plans, while Man-Thing and Mobius M. Mobius offer solid additions to Affliction or general Ongoing strategies. Man-Thing and Mobius have seen less play recently but are still in Tiers B and C respectively on our Card Tier List.
This will be the first week of the October Marvel SNAP season, so in addition to the featured Spotlight Cache cards, players can get Agent Venom by buying the Season Pass. Agent Venom is 2-Cost, 4-Power card with ability On Reveal: Set the Power of all cards in your deck to 4. Check out the Developer update for more info on Agent Venom and the We Are Venom Season.
MISERY (Series 5)
On Reveal: Repeat the On Reveal abilities of your other cards here, then destroy them.
NAMORA (Series 5)
On Reveal: Give +5 Power to each of your cards alone at another location.
WAR MACHINE (Series 5)
Ongoing: Nothing can stop you from playing cards anywhere.
The second Spotlight Cache week features Misery, a soon-to-be staple in decks leaning heavily towards cards with powerful On Reveal abilities, as well as Namora and the newly buffed War Machine. This is a great week for players who have been missing out on recent War Machine decks or are looking for a way to buff their newly acquired Scarlet Spider.
SCORN (Series 5)
When you discard this, return it to your hand and give +2 Power to itself and one of your cards in play.
SEBASTIAN SHAW (Series 5)
When this card permanently gains Power, gain +2 more Power. (wherever this is)
JEAN GREY (Series 4)
Ongoing: Players must play their first card here each turn. (if possible)
The week of OCT 15 - OCT 22 is a great catch-up week if you're missing Sebastian Shaw a previous Season Pass card and Surfer Archetype staple. The week also features Scorn, a new addition to the Discard Archetype - a powerful ability that may prove more useful than Miek in some cases, if it snowballs correctly. Finally, Jean Grey remains a cornerstone in Ongoing decks, so a solid pickup if you're missing the card.
TOXIN (Series 5)
On Reveal: Return your other cards here to your hand. +2 Power for each returned.
ELSA BLOODSTONE (Series 5)
Each card you play to fill your side of a location gains +2 Power.
ZABU (Series 4)
On Reveal: Until the end of your next turn, your 4-Cost cards cost 1 less.
Toxin is shaping up to be the next big Bounce Archetype card, but is paired with Elsa Bloodstone and Zabu, two cards that have been faltering in the past few metas. Last seen in Silky Smoove, Elsa hasn't been able to gain the same footing from its heyday. Similarly, Zabu is a shell of its former self, recently finding a home in decks looking to cheat out Symbiote Spider-Man early. Toxin, unfortunately, may be the only worthwhile pickup this week.
ANTI-VENOM (Series 5)
On Reveal: Set the Cost and Power to your deck's top card to 0.
SUPERGIANT (Series 5)
On Reveal: All cards played next turn don't reveal until the game ends.
GHOST-SPIDER (Series 4)
On Reveal: The last card you played moves here.
The final week of the October We Are Venom Season may be the most interesting of the month, with both Supergiant and Ghost-Spider opening powerful new ways for players to outwit their opponents. The star of the week, if not month, however, is Anti-Venom. Its unique ability is made for highlight reels and fancy play montages. With the right deck composition, setting your next card to 0-Cost may be game-winning.
