What's that? A hiss… a little more than a whisper… Scream blares into Marvel SNAP, but can she bring the noise?
As a tech card, Scream answers a meta problem we just don't have: the Move Archetype has been floundering even with a full season of support, as detailed in our Spotlight Cache Showcase: Scream, Man-Thing, Mobius M. Mobius article, but the October 2024 We Are Venom Season's latest release has taken on a more proactive approach and found a home in some interesting decks. The card's early stats are solid, even with a 12.1% play rate, and Scream has helped solidify a Disrupt and Afflict style game plan as a worthwhile strategy. The By the Numbers Article Series dives into the metrics behind the latest card release to help you decide if the new Series 5 card available in this week’s Spotlight Cache is worth your precious resources. Find out the verdict on Scream below.
We’ll be ranking Scream based on the following set of parameters:
- We’ll be looking at Scream’s performance at the Rank 70 and above
- We’ll be considering Scream’s overall win percentage in these ranks, but also its average cubes and popularity
- Finally, we'll look at which archetypes Scream best fits into and how the card performs in the current meta
Our Card Tier List are based on the Average Cubes and Popularity of a card when compared to all other cards in Marvel SNAP.
The Raw Data
Scream has a +0.69 average cube rate at Rank 70 and above, which oddly enough places it at Tier C on the Card Tier Rankings. Even with the card's respectable 59.8% winrate, the high performance of other cards in the meta makes Scream's solid metrics pale in comparison. Scream metrics demonstrate that the card is great at churning out unexpected power and wins, keeping the opponent second guessing and locking them in instead of retreating. Scream is performing soundly, even with its popularity hitting 12.1% since its release. We'll be watching to see if the card's performance numbers increase as player experimentation begins to slow down in the coming weeks and its popularity drops. For now, Scream's metrics match the winrates and average cube rates of cards playing in a similar space, like Juggernaut and Stegron.
Remember that these stats will settle over time and this early review consists of 24 hours of data. Be sure to revisit the card stats on our Card Tier List to see where Scream lands in terms of power level and popularity.
Scream’s Best Decks
With thousands of games already logged by the Untapped Companion at Rank 70 and above since Scream's release, we have good picture of which decks are working for the latest Season Pass card and which are not. Here are the best-performing options:
The standout here is a high winrate deck that benefits from multiple Affliction and disruption tools: tentatively classified as the Scream Archetype. With a high +0.79 average cube rate and 60.2% winrate, the archetype has been performing well, but with the Bounce Archetype at the top of Tier A, it will be hard for the types of decks Scream is most useful in to gain any real footing. The deck often plays cards like Kingpin, Juggernaut and Polaris to move at least one card per turn, taking advantage of both Kingpin's and Scream's affliction ability. Don’t worry if you are missing any of the cards listed, you can always find a deck tailored to your collection on our Marvel SNAP Decks page.
The other top performer is a variation of the Clog Archetype, leveraging a tried and true shell to capitalize on a new, low-cost card. Scream adds an alternate line and layer to the deck, as Cannonball is already used to move a card on Turn 5 or 6. Adding cards like Polaris and Aero to the deck keeps the Clog flavor intact while adding a bit of affliction to the mix.
We also need to not only analyze Scream's individual power level, but also the archetypes utilizing the card best. If we look at the current Marvel SNAP meta, the Clog Archetype is sitting in Tier B with a 60.9% winrate and flat +0.92 average cube rate using data since the card's release on October 1, 2024 at Rank 70 and above. The most popular deck, however, comes in slightly higher, with a 63.2% winrate and +1.02 cube rate.
CLOG ARCHETYPE
Final Thoughts
Is Scream worth your resources? Early Review analysis revolves around two dimensions, the card's immediate power level and how strong its archetype is in the current Marvel SNAP meta within its release window.
The raw data shows Scream is putting up good metrics, even with high popularity. As popularity lowers in the coming weeks, these metrics should only increase as the card is played less for experimentation and by a more skilled class of player. On an archetype level, the Clog Archetype is sitting in Tier B since its release.
