Welcome to the Untapped.gg Marvel SNAP Meta Report (Conquest) for the week of August 27, 2024. The Meta Report is a weekly article series where we review the best Conquest decks and strategies to help give you an edge over your opponents and secure the coveted Infinity Border for your favorite avatar.
Editor's Note 08/30/24: This meta report has added updated stats to adjust to the OTA Balance Update - August 29.

Marvel SNAP Tier List

This week, when compared to the Ranked Meta Report, we see a few familiar faces that have fallen to B Tier on ladder dominating Conquest. The Conquest Tier List shows the Sandman Archetype and Surfer Archetype sitting comfortable at the top of Tier A, with the Darkhawk Archetype not far behind. The decks have strong average winrates above 59% with Sandman hitting a 60.9% winrate. Sandman represents 2.4% archetype popularity in Gold Conquest since the August 20, 2024 Patch, while Surfer represents 2.6% and Darkhawk jumps to 6.0% popularity, which means you're still more likely to run into the Arishem Archetype (13.5%), Loki Archetype (8.1%) and even Destroy Archetype (7.5%) in Gold Conquest.

Updated 08/30/24: A polarizing OTA has shaken the Marvel Snap Conquest meta game and a few outliers have risen to the top. The Surfer Archetype has overtaken the Sandman Archetype slightly as top deck, with a 62.0% winrate. The most popular deck remains unchanged since our pre-OTA analysis, found below.

Looking a bit deeper at the data, we can see that the Sandman Archetype is at a near perfect 12 in terms of deck list composition as more than half the deck is consistently included in over 90% of decks, including Sandman, Ultron, and Nebula. Although it has fallen to Tier B in Ranked, it remains a powerhouse in Conquest, where players can retreat until they have their wombo combo ready. The most popular Sandman deck sports a 58.0% winrate, suggesting there are even better options out there than what most players are opting to use.

Much like its performance in Ranked, the Surfer Archetype's simple and solid game plan lends itself well to the current meta and continues to perform in Conquest, typically featuring titular card Silver Surfer alongside Brood, and Absorbing Man as staples. Its most popular build has a 61.4% average winrate, higher than the archetype average.

Down in Tier B, we find the Arishem Archetype, Zoo Archetype and Thena Archetype. Their winrates are similar, but Arishem has a much higher popularity, which could be used as an advantage, as other players may expecting to run into the deck more and tech against it specifically. The inverse could be said for Thena, which has a similarly high average winrate, but much lower popularity at just 1.3%. If you're looking to surprise your opponent or queue into the least amount of tech cards, Thena may be the best option.
OTA BALANCE UPDATE - AUG 30 ADJUSTED GOLD CONQUEST TIER B DECKS

Updated 08/30/24: The Darkhawk Archetype has stumbled a bit since the OTA, but still commands a respectable 57.7% winrate. The Zoo Archetype and Arishem Archetypes shuffled around, but maintain very similar stats, albeit lower since last week. Within the archetypes, the most popular deck composition remains largely unchanged by the OTA nerfs and buffs, but with Arishem now possible to drop a Turn 1 Loki, the deck has adopted a heavier tech build, including Shadow King, Shang-Chi and Enchantress.

To have an edge in the Conquest meta, you must understand each and every tool both at your and your opponent's disposal. By studying the Conquest Card Tier List and checking the most popular cards each week, you'll have a better grasp of what to expect in any given match.
notion image
Out of the most popular cards in Gold Conquest since the Latest Patch, only two are tech cards that you should be prepared to face. The most popular among them is Shang-Chi, present in 33.6% of decks - more than double the next tech card, Killmonger. If your deck is particularly susceptible to Shang, you may want to adjust your game plan or even which deck to play.
This doesn’t mean its an auto-lose matchup if your deck is susceptible to Shang or Killmonger - your opponent still needs to draw the card and find the right time to play it to be impactful. It is just a best practice to be aware of its presence to elevate your performance by a significant margin.
Next week we’ll see the new Symbiotic Season launch with Symbiote Spider-Man being added to the game alongside Silver Sable, US Agent and Mockingbird, so be prepared to face players experimenting with their new cards, as we see a spike in popularity on spotlight cache days.

Updated 08/30/24: A rise in Surfer has bumped Gwenpool and Sebastian Shaw into the top used cards, while tech cards lose their footing as they lose effectiveness against the Tier A decks post-OTA. Copycat's usage has also taken a hit, as players look for better options after its change.

Understanding Matchups

Adding a new dimension to our analysis, we can talk about Deck or Archetype matchups. As mentioned, Marvel SNAP decks have strengths and weaknesses, and understanding these can help you dominate the Meta. If you realize you are facing a deck you are favored against, snap more aggressively and increase the stakes at play, given that you are more likely to win those games. On the contrary, when in an unfavored game, you should consider retreating every time your opponent snaps if you don’t feel like you have a great hand.
This discipline will boost the average cubes you win per battle and help you defeat opponents easily since gaining cubes is more important than just winning rounds in SNAP’s Conquest mode. For those who want to explore the infinite possibilities, the Untapped.gg Marvel SNAP Premium subscription unlocks our Matchups table, with thousands of games for each archetype for you to know who is the top dog of every encounter.
For this Sandman-skewed meta, the only other deck currently giving Sandman a run for its money is, ironically enough, Zoo, which is able to insulate itself against Sandman early when the threat is obvious.
