Welcome to the Untapped.gg Marvel SNAP Meta Report (Ranked) for the week of August 22, 2024. The Meta Report is a weekly article series where we review the best Ranked decks and strategies in the top ranks of Marvel SNAP.

Marvel SNAP Tier List

The dust has settled from the four-way tie in last week's Meta Snapshot and one archetype has come out on top. The Surfer Archetype has been refined and honed into a fine-tuned cube machine, sitting at the top of Tier A with a +0.35 average cube rate and 56.2% winrate. The only other survivor of last week's free-for-all is the Zoo Archetype with a +0.25 average cube rate and 55.8% winrate. Surfer represents 1.9% archetype popularity while Zoo represents 4.6%, which means you're still more likely to run into Arishem (14%), Discard (5.9%) and even Destroy (6%) on ladder.

Looking a bit deeper at the data, we can see that the Surfer Archetype hasn't changed much since the last Meta Snapshot, but the decrease in popularity demonstrates that those still playing it are getting better at piloting the deck. Amongst the archetype, six of the most commonly played cards, including Silver Surfer, Brood and Killmonger, are present in nearly 100% of Surfer decks. The most popular Surfer deck sports a 55.8% winrate and +0.32 average cube rate - proving a powerhouse with a consistent gameplan is ready and willing to take advantage of decks relying on tokens or RNG.

The Hela Tribunal Archetype makes a return, as Ongoing counters like Enchantress and Rogue have fallen in popularity. The -2 Power from Hela seems steep, especially on Iron Man, but the solid “if you have it, you win” gameplan is enough to help a sub-50% winrate deck steadily climb with smart snapping and retreating.

Down in Tier B, we find the remnants of last week, including the Darkhawk Archetype and Thena Archetype, as well as the Arishem Archetype. The meta tyrants that once shared the top spot with Surfer last week are now sharing the spotlight at the top of Tier B. While Thena and Arishem share similar winrate and average cube rates, Darkhawk stats are slightly higher, demonstrating a clear winner amongst the B Tier decks.

To have an edge in the Marvel SNAP meta you must understand each and every tool both at your and your opponent's disposal. By studying the Card Tier List and checking the most popular cards each week, you'll have a better grasp on what to expect in any given match.

Shang-Chi returns to the top spot of the Card Tier List after losing out to Cassandra Nova last week, now with a 32.5% popularity rate. This is the second week in a row where only one out of the 10 most popular Marvel SNAP cards in Infinite Rank since the Latest Patch is a tech card. If your deck is particularly susceptible to Shang, you may want to adjust your game plan or even which deck to play.
This doesn’t mean that decks susceptible to Shang are unplayable - your opponent still needs to draw the card and find the right time to play it to be impactful. It is just a best practice to be aware of its presence to elevate your performance by a significant margin.
Next Tuesday, Emperor Hulkling will be released, so be prepared to face players experimenting with their new card, as new cards see a spike in popularity on their first day of release.
